64 Lessons from Dr. Myles Monroe. Lesson #1: Live a life with purpose

As a teenager growing up in our church in the inner city of Detroit, we had the privilege of sitting underneath the ministry of Dr. Myles Munroe, as he visited our church quite often.

I would've never thought that at the ripe age of 52 his ministry and leadership lessons would be more pivotal today and ringing louder in my life than ever before.

One of the things that I learned about living life, is that as you keep living, the seasons will change, but your purpose does not.

This is so true. While I might be a multi-preneur, the purpose of every endeavor that I have is to be instrumental in supporting others to improve the quality of life through the lens of self-care.

Knowing this to be my purpose, I no longer have to fight within myself about what opportunities I am offering to others and wondering what people will think when I have something fresh and purposeful to offer. All of my opportunities are filtered through the mindset of self-care. My thoughts are: How can someone be improved in their life through the lessons that I have learned? This way of thinking allows me to be authentic in my approach. I don't have to create things that fit a certain niche. What I have to offer will connect with those that need it most.

This approach is 100% natural, authentic, and probably controversial to the main stream of how to run business and live your every day life. because, as I work on myself, it only improves how I am able to support you and my audience.

Dr. Myles Munroe said it best: "The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without purpose."

This is how that plays out in my life:

1. Knitting lessons: I taught myself how to knit over 12 years ago. Knitting for me has offered me the opportunity to increase my hand and motor skills, increase my patience, and learn a valuable lessons of completing what I have started. As I teach other people to knit, the same principles become evident in their lives, and it spills over into other goals, dreams, and projects that they would like to complete. They learn to finish what they started. Knitting also has created an opportunity for me to make finished items that people can purchase. Those completed items, allows my customers the opportunity to wear the fullest expression of themselves and feel their own worth.

2. Mary Kay, as an Independent Beauty Consultant: I grew up with a sense of low self-esteem. This all began from being born into a family of my parents who were teenagers at the time. Left to grow up in my formative years with my grandparents, I knew I was loved by them, but by such an early age, I didn't understand why my parents were not there to raise me. Those feelings snowballed into my teenage years and in my 20's and 30's, to leave me with a feeling and sense of abandonment and unworthiness. Once I determined that I had so much more going on in my life, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made in the Lord's image and likeness, I then begin to see that I was only doing myself a disservice by operating through the sense of low self-esteem. Now to fast forward to today, I have the opportunity to work with individuals with using USA-based, self-care products for women and men to help them understand the importance of taking daily care of themselves and setting aside moments, day and night, to affirm themselves in the mirror. These self-care moments help them to believe in the gifts and talents that they see in themselves. Also, with growing my direct Mary Kay team, P.E.A.C.E. Unit (pursuing excellence and celebrating enthusiasm), I am afforded the opportunity to empower my teammates to help others in this same manner while reaching their financial goals. Mary Kay represents more than a product line that is available; it is a vehicle to self-worth.

3. Planners 4 Winners: We are only as successful as the plan that we can visualize, create, write down and implement. With all of the endeavors that I have had, they were only a successful reality because they started with a plan. My organizational tools, planners and journals are being developed so that you can scale to the next level.
